All good things come in threes

The nominated project is a complex PV system for the Dresen car dealership in Korschenbroich, North Rhine-Westphalia. The car dealer wanted to develop its charging infrastructure for e-mobility but lacked the appropriate grid connection power. The dealership’s planned e-charging infrastructure with a total of eight charging stations, including a 50 kW DC fast charging station, consumes approx. 193 kW when all stations are used simultaneously under full power. Unfortunately, the existing power connection can only serve a maximum output of 150 kW. Instead of expanding the commercial power supply, the car dealer invested in a modern and sustainable PV system. Besides the PV system of 167 kWp, the plant includes a storage system with an output of 88kW and a capacity of 131 kWh including an energy management system (EMS). The aim is to enable the supply of all applications constantly and to avoid an overload of the grid connection.

This is a forward-looking project and an excellent example of how sector coupling (the combination of electricity and mobility) can work in the commercial sector. The energy solution enables a secure, independent and all-round economical energy supply both for the charging stations and for the entire operation. This is forward-looking, exemplary and an excellent model for other car dealerships as well.
